Job summary

The City of Webster Groves seeks a Finance Associate to join our Municipal Finance team, performing accounts auditing, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting to support responsible public service.

Bachelor’s degree and/or five years in governmental accounting; strong Excel skills; familiarity with Tyler Technologies is a plus; candidates should pass a comprehensive background check and work well in a collaborative, service-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 years of governmental accounting experience.
• Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Tyler Technologies experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit accounts, cash receipts, payroll & other accounting records and transactions.
• Review, prepare and enter journal entries for recording in the accounting system.
• Reconcile financial ledgers & bank records.
• Create financial statements & reports, general and subsidiary ledgers (and supporting schedules).
• Research and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile taxes withheld, prepare monthly and quarterly government reporting.
• Assist with the annual audit.
• Oversee the annual business licensing process.
