Job summary

Chesterfield County’s Department of Social Services seeks an Administrative Analyst to support budgeting, financial reporting, and management analysis. The role involves reconciling reports, working with leadership to forecast financial needs, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local allocations.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in accounting/finance or related field and strong analytical and interpersonal skills to thrive in a fast-paced governmental environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Working knowledge of: principles, methods, and practices of accounting; accounting laws, ordinances and regulations governing municipal financial operations; and data processing applications and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to understand federal regulations; devise and apply modern accounting procedures; plan, organize and direct the installation of accounting systems and procedures; analyze and interpret fiscal and accounting data; prepare statements and reports; apply and adapt established accounting methods to financial transactions and records; establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers; and display good professional judgment

Responsibilities

• Provide critical financial and management support to the finance team and department leadership.
• Assist with developing and analyzing upcoming financial needs.
• Reconcile financial reports and monitor budgets.
• Review state allocations and ensure appropriate funding lines.
• Prepare and analyze budgets within federal, state and local constraints.
• Support administration of contracts and program evaluations.
