Job summary

City and County of Denver seeks a Financial and Accounting Manager for Denver Arts & Venues. The role focuses on financial leadership, compliance, analysis, and stewardship of public resources in a hybrid setup.

The position reports to the Financial Director and leads a professional accounting team. Ideal candidates bring governmental accounting knowledge, governance experience, and strong skills in budgeting, reporting, and data visualization using Excel and Power BI.

Qualifications

• Background in accounting and financial management within governmental/public sector
• Experience in accounting compliance, reporting, and audit readiness
• Ability to supervise and develop accounting staff
• Strong data analytics and financial modeling skills
• Experience with budgeting processes and grant accounting
• Commitment to transparency and financial stewardship

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
• Direct budgeting, grant accounting, and agency-wide financial planning activities.
• Oversee general ledger, internal controls, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.
• Provide forecasting, scenario analysis, and dashboard tools for leadership decision-making.
• Collaborate with the City Budget Office and other partners on funding needs and compliance.
