Job summary

The City of Decatur is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join the Information Technology team. You will manage enterprise databases supporting critical City operations for public safety, finance, utilities, ERP, and more.

This onsite role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with benefits including health insurance, IMRF pension, and generous leave. Candidates should have 5+ years of DBA experience and relevant cloud database knowledge.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a closely related field.
Five years of progressively responsible enterprise database administration experience.
Municipal or public sector experience is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise database platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar).
Monitor health, troubleshoot, tune performance, and manage upgrades and lifecycle planning.
Support high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and restoration strategies for business continuity.
