Job summary

Appian is seeking a Database Engineer in the Public Sector Customer Success team to design, develop, and maintain a complex data architecture that supports DoW initiatives. You’ll work with RDMS and NoSQL databases to architect scalable solutions for large datasets and ensure high availability.

The role requires migrating legacy data, converting procedures to modern languages, tuning performance, and integrating DB objects into CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required.
• 1+ year of professional data engineering experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases and related languages.
• Experience with RDMS; data migration and ETL experience.
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop database architectures and data models.
• Migrate legacy data to new architectures and ensure compatibility.
• Convert legacy SQL objects into target-compatible languages (PL/SQL/SQL).
• Identify and update hardcoded SQL queries for new engine compatibility.
• Establish ETL functions to move data into the new environment.
• Configure, implement, and monitor enterprise database clusters.
• Tune database objects and create indices for performance.
• Integrate DB objects into CI/CD pipelines and source control.
• Develop data generation scripts for testing and performance.
