Job summary

Appian is seeking a Database Engineer to design, develop, and maintain a large-scale data architecture for DoW initiatives. You will migrate legacy data, optimize for high availability, and ensure performance in a cloud-based environment.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering, strong SQL and NoSQL skills, and active DoD clearance (or ability to obtain). A competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field required.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience with tables, views, stored procedures, and functions.
• Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL languages (SQL, MQL, CQL).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies and cloud/DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop database architectures and data models to support contract requirements.
• Analyze legacy databases to identify incompatibilities and migration risks before moving workloads to the cloud.
• Convert legacy stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions to target languages.
• Identify and update hardcoded SQL queries for the new engine.
• Establish ETL functions to transform and migrate data to the new environment.
• Configure, implement, and monitor enterprise database clusters.
• Tune database objects and create indices for performance.
• Integrate database objects into CI/CD pipelines and source control.
• Develop data generation scripts for testing and validation.
