Job summary

Appian is seeking a Database Engineer in the Public Sector Customer Success team in McLean, VA. The role focuses on designing and maintaining scalable data architectures for mission-critical DoW initiatives, with RDMS and NoSQL expertise.

You will migrate legacy data, optimize performance, and ensure high availability in cloud environments, while collaborating across Appian's teams and ensuring security requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a technical field.
• 5+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases; proficient with SQL, MQL, and CQL.
• Experience designing and implementing new tables, views, procedures, and functions.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain; US citizenship required for Public Sector work.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% annually.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop database architectures and data models for customer requirements.
• Analyze legacy databases to plan migration to modern architecture.
• Migrate data and optimize performance in cloud environments.
• Develop and tune queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes.
• Integrate database objects into CI/CD pipelines and source control.
• Generate data for automated testing and performance evaluation.
