Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Communications Officer for a 3-month contract with a local authority in Shropshire. The role involves delivering strategic internal and external communications, promoting services, and supporting campaigns with collaboration across teams and external partners.

The position is hybrid with three on-site days per week, ASAP start, and a basic DBS check is required. You will handle media relations, digital content, and stakeholder engagement to enhance resident

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and support the delivery of communications campaigns and initiatives.
• Support media relations activities, including preparing press releases and responding to media enquiries.
• Promote services, initiatives and campaigns through social media channels.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
• Support the production of videos, photographs and other communications materials.
• Assist the communications team in delivering high-quality communications activities.
• Coordinate and contribute to communications campaigns and projects.
• Work closely with web and customer service teams to support external communications.
• Contribute to the development of communications activities and the use of new technologies to improve the customer experience.
• Support communications activities during emergencies and major incidents.
• Prepare responses to complaints, customer enquiries, media enquiries and other formal requests, ensuring deadlines and procedures are followed.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial, procurement and information governance requirements.
