Job summary

Google Public Sector seeks a Software Engineer, Reliability, at mid level to design and maintain sovereign cloud services. You will own the life-cycle from inception to deployment, measure health, and drive reliability across distributed systems.

Role requires US citizenship, TS/SCI clearance, and willingness to undergo a polygraph, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and influence architecture at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance, and the willingness to undergo a polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Own the entire life-cycle of Google Public Sector air-gapped services from inception and design, through to deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
• Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
• Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
