We seek engineers who bring ideas from information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, AI, NLP, UI design and mobile.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with current polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Engage in and improve the entire lifecycle of Google Public Sector air-gapped services, from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Support services before they go live via system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
• Maintain live services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
• Scale systems sustainably through automation, and push and contribute to architectural changes that improve reliability and velocity.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.

Utilizing experience with large-scale distributed systems, you will drive insights and integrate new technology to improve the reliability, efficiency, and simplicity of the operational stack, eliminate systemic toil, and enforce long-term architectural excellence.
