Job summary

Durham County Government is seeking a Budget Analyst to assist in the preparation, development, and analysis of departmental budgets. You will work with departments to ensure accuracy, manage the budget through the fiscal year, and provide forecasting and reporting support.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration and at least two years of public sector budgeting experience, with strong data analysis skills and proficiency in Power BI, Excel, and SAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or related field.
• Two years of public sector budgeting, accounting, or finance experience.
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the annual operating budget development and advise departments per county requirements.
• Manage budget implementation with revisions throughout the fiscal year.
• Develop relationships and guide multi-year planning, forecasting and process improvements.
• Supervise research projects and prepare policy/financial analyses and benchmarking.
• Conduct data analyses using Power BI, Excel, SAP and other tools.
• Serve as primary internal contact for service department needs and information.
• Support information requests from Board, management, and departments.
