Job summary

Prince George's County Government is seeking a Budget Management Analyst at the entry trainee level in the Bureau of Administrations/Budget & Finance. The position focuses on assisting with detailed analyses and recommendations for operating and capital budgets, program evaluation, and project management within a dynamic county government.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least one year of paraprofessional budget experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business/Public Management, Finance, Economics, Quantitative Analyses, or closely related field.
One year of paraprofessional support to an accounting or budget office performing budgetary or financial recordkeeping.
An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Responsibilities

Budget Development and Administration: Knowledge of budgeting techniques and GAAP; monitor overtime spending and advise on strategies to reduce overtime.
Grant Administration, Reimbursement Billing and Payroll: Coordinate grant applications, awards, contracts, programmatic reports and reimbursable billing; review expenditures for grants.
Communication: Keep Budget and Finance Manager informed; convert ideas to written communications; work with internal/external customers to resolve issues.
Other Duties As Assigned: Perform tasks within the job scope and attend training as opportunities arise.
