Job summary

Franklin County in Union, Missouri seeks a Deputy Auditor to perform municipal auditing and financial analysis under general supervision. You will handle audits, journal entries, and reporting to ensure accuracy of financial records and compliance with state statutes.

The role requires a accounting degree and at least one year of governmental auditing experience, with strong Excel/office software skills and ability to interpret complex accounting rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field.
• Minimum of one year auditing or accounting experience in a governmental setting.
• Ability to interpret and implement accounting rules and procedures.
• Extensive use of computers and related accounting software/systems, including spreadsheet manipulation.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly audits of revenue and cash reports for assigned departments and divisions.
• Audit County accounts payable transactions for accuracy and compliance with County policies and State statutes.
• Maintain the County’s fixed asset system and coordinate annual physical inventory.
• Prepare and adjust journal entries; generate and participate in reports.
• Advise County offices on fund allocation and accounting codes; assist in financial oversight.
• Assist in other duties as assigned and may cover Auditor duties in absence.
