Job summary

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) in New Orleans, Louisiana, seeks an experienced Attorney to advise and represent OPSO in civil and criminal matters. Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from ABA-accredited school.
  • Minimum five years of experience as criminal or civil defense lawyer.
  • Licensed to practice in Louisiana.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support in civil litigation against OPSO.
  • Research and gather case information for OPSO.
  • Prepare dispositions, pleadings, and contracts timely.
  • Represent OPSO at hearings and in criminal proceedings.
  • Advise OPSO on legal options and outcomes.
  • Stay informed about current legislation.
