Scale AI is seeking a Software Engineer, ARC to shape howScale ships software in government and high-security environments. You will build internal tools, define secure deployment patterns, and drive automation to reduce tech debt while ensuring safe deployments.

The role requires active secret clearance with readiness for TS/SCI; work across DC, SF, NYC, or STL offices is expected. Base salary ranges are disclosed for multiple locations, with extensive benefits and equity potential.

Qualifications

• Active secret clearance required with willingness to upgrade to TS/SCI with CI Poly.
• Experience with full stack development across front-end and back-end in secure environments.
• Familiarity with cloud-native deployments on AWS/Azure/GCP is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills.
• Willingness to work 3-4 days per week from DC/SF/NYC/STL offices.

Responsibilities

• Design secure, scalable backend systems for Public Sector customers using Scale's cloud-native infrastructure.
• Own services or systems and define their long-term health goals, improving surrounding components.
• Re-architect the stack for compliant environments with swappable auth/storage/logging components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align backend solutions with government needs.
• Engage with customers to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
• Contribute to platform roadmap and product strategy for Scale's Public Sector business.
