Job summary

The City of Hidden Hills is seeking a highly organized Accountant to join a small, dedicated team in Southern California. You will manage payroll, general ledger, audits, budget analysis, and grant coordination, with opportunities to learn across city departments.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in the public sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business/public administration, or related field.
• At least 3 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in public sector or municipal setting.
• Knowledge of GAAP and public agency financial standards; familiarity with CalPERS/CalPWA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the City’s general ledger, prepare journal entries, and reconcile accounts.
• Handle payroll processing, including retirement, taxes, and benefit deductions.
• Prepare financial statements, audit schedules, and year-end reports.
• Assist in preparing the City’s annual budget and conduct cost analyses.
• Monitor and report on grant funds, including compliance tracking.
• Support auditors and respond to financial inquiries.
