Job summary

City of Fate is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support our Finance & Accounting team in a hands‑on role. You will manage AP, journal entries, reconciliations, bank activities, and monthly closings in a collaborative, small-staff environment.

The position emphasizes accuracy, timely reporting, and internal controls, with responsibilities spanning budget preparation, financial analysis, and year-end processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance or related field.
• Five years of accounting experience, preferably in governmental accounting.
• Experience with Incode financial software preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• A combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and processes accounts payable.
• Prepares journal entries and maintains balance sheet schedules.
• Reconciles and maintains general ledger accounts.
• Assists with monthly and year-end closings.
• Prepares monthly financial reports and analyses.
• Monitors bank accounts and reconciles bank statements.
• Supports annual budget processes and audit preparations.
• Back-ups payroll processing and related duties as needed.
• Maintains internal controls and procedures.
