Job summary

Centra Health seeks a professional, uniformed Officer for the Office of Public Safety to provide emergency, public safety and security services across Centra Health facilities. The role supports safety and patient/family experience while upholding patient-centered care.

The position involves monitoring visitors, responding to Code calls, ensuring access control, and supporting security operations. Travel between Centra-owned facilities is expected; on-the-job training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Driver’s license required.
• On-the-job training will be provided as a condition of continuing employment.
• All applicants must be able to comply with firearm requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor conduct of visitors on premises and document incidents.
• Monitor video, alarms, and respond per protocol to secure property.
• Respond to Code calls (Grey, Red, Yellow, Orange, Silver, ADAM, etc.).
• Enforce parking rules and monitor parking lot security.
• Restrain patients per hospital policy when necessary and requested.
• Prepare helipad for helicopter arrivals/departures.
• Provide notary public services.
• Log identities and manage DOA/frank releases from morgue or funeral home; handle radio calls and pages.
• Conduct weapons screening and ensure safe, professional interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Public Safety leader.
