Job summary

Centra Health in Virginia seeks a professional, uniformed first responder within the Office of Public Safety. The Officer delivers emergency, public safety, and security services to protect patients, staff and visitors, while supporting patient-family centered care.

The role includes incident reporting, Code response, notary services, helipad prep, and inter-facility travel between Centra locations. On-the-job training is provided, and firearm compliance is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Driver's license is required.
• On-the-job training will be provided as a condition of continuing employment.
• Compliance with all federal, state and local requirements for carrying a firearm is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interview unauthorized visitors and complete incident reports.
• Monitor video, security systems and alarms; respond per protocols and secure property/equipment.
• Respond to Code calls (Grey, Red, Yellow, Orange, Silver, ADAM, etc.) and enforce parking rules.
• Restrain patients per hospital policy when requested by Centra Health staff.
• Prepare helipad for safe helicopter arrivals and departures.
• Provide notary public services.
• Manage identities and DOA/morgue release; handle radio calls, pages, and service requests.
• Perform weapons screening/detection; respond to alarms and threats per protocols.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Sergeant or Public Safety leader.
