Job summary

Santa Fe County is seeking a dedicated public safety professional to provide essential services to the community. The role involves responding to service requests, preliminary traffic investigations, and directing traffic during events or emergencies.

You will examine roadways for hazards, assist motorists, monitor county cameras, and prepare written reports. A valid NM license, ability to work varied shifts, and a clean record are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of county geography, traffic codes, safety procedures and department rules.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to learn and analyze situations quickly under stress and determine appropriate action.
• Ability to enforce NM State Statutes.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have a record clear of felony convictions or crimes involving moral turpitude.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests for service and conduct preliminary investigations on traffic matters.
• Examine roadways for hazards and clear obstructions as needed.
• Direct traffic during events, emergencies, or special conditions.
• Provide sworn testimony in court.
• Conduct escorts and coordinate medical response as needed.
• Answer public inquiries and assist motorists, pedestrians, and citizens.
• Monitor county cameras and complete required written reports.
• Enforce County Ordinances and identify witnesses at accidents when needed.
• Assist patrol officers with initial information gathering and on-site duty as directed.
• Work may require travel and exposure to hazardous situations.
