Santa Fe County NM is seeking a dedicated team member to support fire prevention activities, public education, and community risk reduction. The role involves inspecting facilities, reviewing plans for code compliance, and assisting in investigations of fire origin and cause.

Responsibilities include conducting safety education presentations, maintaining records, and participating in ongoing training to stay current with evolving codes and standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Firefighter I certification and 1 year of active firefighter experience.
• EMT Basic license within 12 months of hire.
• Defensive driving certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and codes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in fire and life safety education presentations.
• Review development submissions for code compliance and provide public service support.
• Conduct field inspections of structures for construction, occupancy, and fire protection.
• Assist in field verification of shop drawings and construction documents for code compliance.
• Support fire origin and cause investigations and ongoing training.
