The Town of Payson seeks a Public Safety Telecommunicator to answer 911 calls, dispatch fire and EMS, and coordinate police response. You will evaluate calls, obtain essential information, and transmit instructions to field units via radio and computer systems.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, with six months of experience as a 911 dispatcher. Some experience with radio/computer equipment is desirable. The position offers a generous benefits package as described.
The starting rateis dependent on qualifications and experience.
Pay Range:$25.85 - $38.78 per hour

The Town of Payson offers a generous benefits package including participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, 188 hours of paid time off per year (sick and vacation) with accruals increasing with years of service and nine paid holidays and an additional 40 hours of floating holiday hours.
The position performs the full scope of duties of a Public Safety Telecommunicator in the areas of answering 911 calls, dispatching fire and emergency medical services, or dispatching police services. Duties include: receiving calls from the public; evaluating the calls for proper action; and initiating Police or Fire response by obtaining information required for dispatching field units. An employee in this class dispatches messages and calls by voice and computer to police or fire units and to maintain radio contact with mobile units.
The Public Safety Telecommunicator Trainee will have graduated from high school/GED, supplemented by training in modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment. Will have six months experience as a 911 Radio Dispatcher.
Will have some experience operating a radio, computer equipment, or other communication equipment is highly desirable. Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and abilities for the position.
