Job summary

Pima County is seeking a Radio Frequency Network Engineer to design, maintain, and support the County's public safety radio system. You will ensure dispatch centers stay connected and field staff have peak performance through tower site inspections and preventative maintenance.

The role includes troubleshooting system components, replacing hardware, testing environmental alarms, and coordinating with management. Experience with MPLS, AES, Windows/Linux servers, and tower safety is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, MIS or closely related field plus 3 years configuring, monitoring and managing networking equipment (routers/switches).
• Four years of experience with Pima County as a Land Mobile Radio Systems Analyst I or II.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, reloads images, and repairs/replaces advanced network equipment including routers, switches and firewalls.
• Troubleshoots and repairs issues on a MPLS Microwave Network connecting the PCWIN radio sites and Dispatch Centers across Pima County.
• Troubleshoots and identifies power issues using test equipment including battery plants, rectifiers, and backup power.
• Troubleshoots radio site and dispatch site environmental alarms and repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoots server issues using Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Troubleshoots Tower Safety and manages crews to identify issues and remediate antenna network equipment and Microwave Dishes.
• Troubleshoots AES encryption and tools to load and use encryption.
• Manages equipment, upgrades projects and communicates progress to management and customers.
• Uses monitoring tools to troubleshoot problems and perform annual preventative maintenance to Project 25 standard.
