Job summary

UC Irvine Police Department is seeking a Public Safety Responder to monitor and report safety concerns on the UC Irvine campus. The role involves patrolling, assisting the public, and responding to incidents with professionalism and calm under pressure.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, valid CA security license, and strong customer service skills, with the ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Able to conduct sustained foot patrols and/or extended stationary post assignments.
• Able to operate video surveillance equipment.
• Complete IA HSS basic certification within six months of employment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid California Driver's License.
• Valid California BSIS Security Guard License.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in public-facing service roles.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, observe, and report public safety concerns and conditions.
• Provide information, directions, and general assistance to the public.
• Patrol and respond to calls for service across campus properties.
• Escort patients, visitors, and staff; assist with de-escalation of situations.
• Operate safety equipment and assist with security systems as needed.
