Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED).
  • Completion of Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Responsibilities

  • Preserves the peace, protects life and property; enforces laws and ordinances; responds to complaints and incidents; conducts investigations and gathers evidence.
  • Patrols the Municipality; checks premises; investigates suspicions and complies with safety procedures.
  • Responds to fire and accident scenes; provides assistance and first aid when needed.
  • Performs crime prevention, maintains order at public gatherings, and disperses unlawful assemblies.
  • Directs traffic, uses radar for speeding violations, and may administer sobriety tests.
