Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or a G.E.D. equivalent and successful completion of a California POST certified police academy.
• Completion of Basic POST certificate is required.
• Lateral Entry requires at least one year sworn officer experience in California and a California POST Basic Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas by vehicle, on foot, or bicycle; enforce vehicle, penal, and city codes; prevent crime and correct hazards.
• Investigate traffic collisions and criminal incidents; write reports; collect and preserve evidence; testify in court.
• Apprehend suspects, perform jail procedures including fingerprinting and photographing.
• Provide first aid in medical emergencies; mediate disputes; may act as dispatcher in absence.
• Other duties as assigned.
