Responsibilities

• Assist with supervising, and training, and ensures the proper training levels and the certifications for staff are achieved.
• Assist with leading all efforts related to crisis management planning, operations, and campus activities in the event of an actual crisis.
• Assists with forming and maintaining strong and productive relationships with external civil authorities, including Miami Gardens Police and Fire Department liaisons.
• Assist as Liaisons with Marketing and Communications staff in crisis situations relative to campus-wide alerts and messaging protocols.
• Assists with overseeing parking registration, enforcement, and appeals.
• Assists with evaluating performance of staff and administers discipline, if necessary.
• Assists with preparing and reporting crime statistics and ensures complete compliance with FERPA, HIPPA, and Clery.
• Assists in working with Residence Life Staff and Student Affairs in the enforcement and University policy.
• Assists in preparing reviews and distributes daily morning reports and incident reports.
• Assist with ensuring staff maintains a professional appearance and demeanor within the Campus Safety department.
• Assists with meeting daily with University personnel to discuss all issues relative to safety and security of the University community.
• Assists with serving in an on-call capacity to ensure emergencies are adequately addressed.
• Assists with conducting ongoing departmental assessments of services and programs.
• Assists with completing monthly and annual reports for the department.
• Support and implement the divisional and University mission and strategic plan.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Public Safety Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the AVP with residence hall security, CCTV and other technology monitoring and prevention systems for the university on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis. They assist with managing various unpredictable caseload demands, with the ability to direct, coordinate, and review assignments and projects. The Public Safety Operations Manager assists with training, and supervising non-sworn Campus Safety officers; assists with planning and implementing security operations, programs, and initiatives in support of the University’s mission and vision. Additionally, the Public Safety Operations Manager, as the Incident Commander for crisis situations, is responsible for the conducting of exercises with the senior administration to test and refine emergency plans. The Public Safety Operations Manager is responsible for assisting in other areas such as: Departmental In-Service training, Parking and Traffic issues, and all security requirements for University sponsored events on campus.
