The Public Safety Officer Unarmed protects personnel and property within INTEGRIS Health facilities and grounds. Responsibilities include preventing criminal, destructive, or disruptive activity; correcting hazardous conditions; controlling traffic; providing public service to patients, visitors, and staff; and performing parking enforcement when directed. This role requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals, depending on patient contact level. Qualifications:

• 12 college credit hours preferred.
• Certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety within 1 year of hire.
• CLEET Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• 1 year of private security or police experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills in English (verbal/written).
• MMPI or CPI psychological evaluation required post-hire for Taser weapon evaluation.
• Valid Oklahoma State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure security of property and facilities, preventing unauthorized access.
• Control pedestrian and vehicle traffic; issue citations and investigate accidents as needed.
• Provide public services such as assistance and escorts.
• Assist with fire drills and inspect for hazards.
• Write reports and document events accurately.
• Assist at the helicopter pad during landings and emergencies.
• Complete projects and assignments from supervisors.
• Follow employee regulations, policies, and procedures regarding security and safety.
• Assist clinical staff with patient restraint if necessary.
• Detain suspects for police when appropriate.

This position reports to the Public Safety Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Manager. Additional physical and respiratory fit tests may be required. The role involves interaction with potentially combative persons, participation in fire drills, bomb threat searches, and working indoors with hazardous chemicals or gases, as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.
