UVA Health in Manassas, VA seeks a Public Safety Officer for a 6‑month temporary role. The position runs 6a–6p with weekend rotation to ensure safety and security across campus.
The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, CPI and IAHSS certifications within six months, plus basic computer skills and a clean record. Prior healthcare security or law enforcement experience is preferred.
The Public Safety Officer acquires and applies the job skills necessary to provide a safe and secure environment for improving the health of our communities.

Public interactions work experience required. Work experience in related field preferred (law enforcement, military, or security management). Previous healthcare security experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Driver's License in applicable state required. CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 6 months of hire and maintained throughout employment required. Must complete Basic Security Officer Certification through the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) within 6 months of hire and maintained throughout employment required.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment. The base compensation for this role is $22.00 hourly.
