Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to provide security for patients, visitors, and employees, protect hospital assets, and enforce hospital policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Patrol hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, illegal entry, safety infractions, and irregularities.
- Ensure the security and safety of hospital properties, staff, equipment, and records, including parking lots and vehicles.
- Participate in investigations, maintain records, and prepare incident reports related to security activities.
- Investigate disturbances and take charge during emergencies to maintain order and safety.
- Respond to emergencies such as accidents, injuries, crimes, and hazards; provide assistance and summon authorities.
- Assist hospital personnel and help restrain psychiatric patients as needed.
- Secure and unlock offices and facilities; safeguard patient valuables and manage lost and found items.
- Maintain required records, reports, and department equipment and supplies.
- Attend all required training and in-service programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience as a Healthcare Security Officer.
- Preferred: IAHSS basic certification (not mandatory).
- Strong communication skills, ability to produce accurate reports.
- Ability to interact courteously with diverse age and ethnic groups.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- CPR (Heart Saver) certification within 4 months of hire.
- MOAB training within 4 months of hire, renewed every 2 years.
Additional Details
Schedule: Per Diem, rotating days/evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays.
Location: Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, MA.
