Job Description

The Remote Security Officer provides services for a variety of large and small business clients in remote settings where health, safety, and security are our top priorities. All duties are performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol buildings, areas, or grounds visually or electronically.
• Authorize entry only to properly authorized individuals.
• Inspect premises for security, including doors, windows, and gates.
• Record incidents such as property damage or unusual occurrences.
• Warn violators and potentially apprehend or expel them.
• Notify on-site personnel of visitors.
• Respond to emergencies to protect life and property.
• Operate access control systems and maintain visitor logs.
• Check operational status of safety systems.
• Provide transportation using various vehicles.
• Administer emergency medical aid, including CPR and AED.
• Report safety or sanitation issues to supervisors.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required; exemptions evaluated with HR.
• At least 3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Post-secondary education may substitute experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record for 3 years.
• Ability to obtain Alaska Guard and Armed Guard licenses.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, contract-specific software).
• Pass pre-employment tests (drug, physical, hearing, etc.).
• Ability to live in dormitory settings and meet cleanliness standards.
• Teamwork and decision-making skills.
• Physical ability to stand for 12-hour shifts.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).

Additional Information

Candidates outside Anchorage must cover travel and accommodation expenses for pre-employment testing in Anchorage. Resident candidates in Alaska will have testing scheduled locally. All employees are responsible for travel expenses to reporting locations for scheduled company trips.

Physical & Working Conditions

Indoor/outdoor environment, often in arctic conditions. Moderate to loud noise levels. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and perform physical tasks as specified.
