Position: Public Safety Officer - Armed
Location: Advocate Medical Group clinics, 2025 Windsor Dr., Oak Brook, IL
Schedule: Full Time; Monday-Friday, possible weekend coverage; ~2nd Shift, 2pm-10:30pm
Responsibilities
- Provide professional, fair, and compassionate security services, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor, and ensuring safety in accordance with policies and training.
- Conduct interior and exterior patrols, inspections, manage patient valuables, and perform contraband searches to ensure safety and security.
- Respond to workplace violence, service calls, and assist in de-escalation efforts.
- Plan, respond to, and investigate emergencies such as fire, active threats, or missing children, including physical intervention when necessary.
- Investigate incidents, complete reports, and escalate complaints appropriately.
- Engage in liaison rounding, security education, and coordinate with law enforcement and first responders.
- Maintain current training standards and department-issued equipment.
Minimum Requirements
- Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) within two years of hire.
- Valid driver’s license, FOID or CCW license, and ability to obtain Firearm Control Card within 90 days.
- Certified in Taser use within 90 days.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of security or related experience involving emergency response.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Completion of Illinois 40-hour armed course with pistol endorsement.
- Willingness to carry and maintain department-issued firearm.
- Ability to pass annual firearm qualification with a score of 70% or higher.
- Sound judgment, effective communication, physical fitness, and ability to handle stressful and potentially violent situations.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, lift up to 35 lbs., and operate firearms safely.
- Corrected 20/20 vision; exposure to various hazards; frequent interaction with challenging behaviors.
