Job summary

Piedmont Newnan Hospital is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to safeguard patients, staff and visitors, and to support a secure hospital environment.

Responsibilities include screening for threats, incident documentation, de-escalation of aggressive behavior, and coordination of safety procedures across the facility, parking areas, and professional buildings. No experience required; best fit for those with general safety or public safety experience.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• No experience required; 2 years in security/public safety preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate Piedmont values and provide excellent customer service to patients, staff and visitors.
• Screen for and interdict weapons as they enter a facility.
• Maintain security of the hospital, professional buildings and parking lot/deck.
• Perform incident documentation and initial investigation.
• Actively monitor at-risk patients and deescalate difficult situations.
• Respond to aggressive behavior and apply physical restraints.
• Direct traffic when required.
• Assist patients/visitors by giving directions and responding to emergencies.
• Advocate crime prevention and a secure work environment through observation and intervention.

Responsibilities

Responsible for a variety of routine safety and emergency security activities while safeguarding students, employees, visitors, patients and property. First responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility. Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects.

• Perform documentation in the medical record.
• Enforces all PHC policies, regulations and applicable state and federal laws.
• Directs traffic when required

• Advocates crime prevention and a secure work environment through observation, interaction, and intervention.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 2 years experience in general security, military or other public safety experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 Upon Hire Required
• IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer within 1 Year Required
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening Required
• Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment to include certifications in Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed Required
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification Preferred
