Dayton Children's Hospital is seeking an Armed Public Safety Officer to provide the highest level of safety and security during daily operations and emergencies. You will enforce hospital security rules with professionalism and respect to support the hospital's mission for exceptional pediatric care.
The role requires a valid Ohio driver's license, the ability to operate hospital vehicles, and completion of OPOTA or OPOTA Private Security Academy within 12 months of hire.
The Armed Public Safety Officer is responsible for providing the highest level of safety and security for the hospital during normal day-to-day operations as well as emergency situations. This role ensures the enforcement of hospital security rules, regulations, and policies in a professional, respectful, low-key manner that aligns with the hospital’s mission, values, and commitment to providing exceptional healthcare to the children of the community.
The Armed Public Safety Officer works collaboratively with all hospital departments to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and physicians. This position supports hospital-wide safety, infection prevention, emergency response initiatives, and patient transport responsibilities when needed.
The officer must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license, remain insurable under the hospital’s insurance carrier, and be capable of safely operating hospital vehicles when required.
This position requires successful completion of OPOTA (Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy) or OPOTA Private Security Academy certification within 12 months of hire.
