Mount Mary University is seeking a Public Safety Officer to provide a professional security presence on campus, promoting safety for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus and monitor the front entrance and cameras; staff the front desk and enforce guest protocols.
• Assist RAs with dormitory rule enforcement and help with answering phones.
• Respond to incidents including medical emergencies, disturbances, fire alarms, trespassers and other security-related calls.
• Prepare shift, incident and injury reports as appropriate.
• Interact with university offices and external constituents; perform security desk duties as needed.

Position Summary: The Public Safety Officer provides a professional security presence on campus to promote and ensure the safety and welfare of students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Primary assignment is overall campus patrol responsibilities, with secondary assignment at Caroline Hall Desk
• Responsible for monitoring the front entrance and cameras, staffing front desk, monitoring guest protocols, assisting RAs with dorm rule enforcement, answering the phone, monitor fire alarm panels.
• Conducts regular foot and motor patrols of campus buildings and grounds, performs lock and unlock functions, checks for unauthorized use, and signs of criminal activity, and enforces university policies.
• Conducts regular checks of parking lots, enforcing parking regulations, and checking for signs of criminal activity.
• Acts as the first contact for after-hours physical plant and custodial problems.
• Responds to and helps with incidents involving suspicious persons, medical emergencies, disturbances, fire alarms, trespassers, and other security-related calls.
• Prepares shift, incident, and injury reports as appropriate.
• Interacts with various offices within the university as well as outside constituents.
• Performs security desk responsibilities if needed.
• Performs other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.
• This is a "hands-off" position. No weapons or use of force training allowed or provided.

Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED is required. Previous law enforcement, campus safety or security experience is strongly recommended.
• Must have valid WI DL, a good driving record, and be insurable under the University's insurance carrier. (no serious violations or at-fault crashes).
• Abilities and skills to deal with emergencies.
• Ability to react calmly and responsibly in emergency situations.
• Ability to exercise good and appropriate judgment in dealing with incidents involving potential damage to life or property.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and possess general computer skills.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to become CPR/AED certified.
• Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education.
• Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and visitors.
• Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects.

Physical Demands:

• 40 scheduled hours per week. Exact workweek with off days to be determined.
