Job summary

The City of Independence, Missouri is seeking a Systems Administrator II to join the Technology Services Department. This role will install, maintain, and troubleshoot technology systems supporting public safety operations for the Police Department, while developing service delivery standards and best practices.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and at least four years of relevant experience, with proficiency in AD, SQL, VMware, Azure, and network fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
• Experience supporting public safety IT systems is a plus.
• Strong communication and documentation skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in hardware, software, network troubleshooting and support.
• Design, upgrade, and troubleshoot IT systems for public safety applications.
• Maintain and optimize SQL Server databases and permissions.
• Develop system architecture diagrams and standard operating procedures.
• Manage user access, security settings, and RBAC for public safety apps.
• Monitor server performance and ensure optimal application performance.
• Coordinate timelines, budgets, and resources for projects.
• Stay updated with technology trends and best practices.
