Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania, Division of Public Safety, is seeking a System Administrator to manage the Division's IT systems, including Windows servers, security tooling, and cloud and on‑prem infrastructure. The role supports DPS staff and collaborates with contracted partners to ensure reliable, secure operations.

You will oversee server administration, backups, patching, and incident response, while guiding a direct report and helping align IT with Penn’s security standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as systems administrator for the Division of Public Safety.
  • Provide system management for Windows, servers, security, and AD.
  • Manage cloud-based, virtual, and physical server infrastructure.
  • Create user accounts, manage permissions, ensure integrity and security.
  • Assist in vendor contracts and support services.
  • Assist in budget preparation for IT solutions.
  • Develop and implement hardware/software lifecycle management and pilots.
  • Provide tier 2 support for IT systems and DPS staff.
  • Collaborate with security partners and University ISC staff on security infra.
  • Enforce DPS and UPenn security standards across all IT systems.
  • Supervise the direct report and provide training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
