Job summary

Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District seeks a Fire Prevention Specialist I/II to inspect buildings, regulated operations, fire protection and life safety systems to verify compliance with codes and standards. You will work with the Prevention team, Building Inspectors, and Community Improvement Officers to protect people, businesses, and the environment.

The role requires knowledge of fire protection codes, strong written communication, and the ability to engage with diverse communities

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fire protection and prevention principles and codes.
• Ability to read building plans and maps and interpret regulations.
• Experience in public outreach, community affairs or safety education.

Responsibilities

• Being a contributing member of the Prevention and Risk Reduction team.
• Inspecting buildings, regulated business operations, fire protection and life safety systems, places of assembly, and schools to verify compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Assisting with community events and engaging residents and businesses on safety topics.
• Learning and applying fire and life safety codes in protection of people, businesses and environment.
• Working collaboratively with Prevention team, Building Inspectors, and Community Improvement Officers.
• Communicating effectively across all age groups and professions.
