Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician to support Public Safety communications systems in the New York region, including Essex County. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose complex issues, and collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales teams to maintain advanced radio and data networks.

Applicants must be able to obtain government background clearance, reside in northern New York or commute to Essex County, and be willing to travel up to 30%.

Qualifications

• 2 year Associate Degree in Electronics or IT (preferred), or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Security +, CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable.
• Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
• Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as LAN and WAN.
• Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment.
• Computer literate with proficiency in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
• Strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with customers and MSS community, as well as Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams.
• Self-motivated and self-managed to perform duties at distance from direct supervision.
• Must be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.
• Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
• Team with Engineering, Project Management and Sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems.
• Deliver knowledge of RF systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
• Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
