Job summary

Peraton in Sacramento is seeking an Enterprise Architect to lead the CAL FIRE CAD network consulting engagement, defining current-state architecture and transition roadmap for a 24/7 public safety dispatch environment.

You will ensure alignment with NIST, CJIS, and California security standards while guiding the engineering team through risk assessments, cost estimates, and executive briefings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
• 12+ years of enterprise IT architecture experience, with 4+ years in government/public safety networks.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• TOGAF 9 or 10 certification required.
• Strong LAN/WAN design and routing (BGP/OSPF) experience.
• Familiarity with CAD system architectures and their network dependencies.
• Experience with security architectures and zero-trust concepts.
• Proficiency with architecture modeling tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Archi, Sparx EA).

Responsibilities

• Lead Technology Assessment phase documenting CAL FIRE CAD topology, infrastructure, data flows and integration points.
• Develop and maintain current-state and target-state architecture diagrams, gap analyses and transition blueprints.
• Define the technical strategy for infrastructure transition, including segmentation, redundancy and failover.
• Evaluate and recommend hardware/software enhancements aligned with CAL FIRE operational requirements and Peraton standards.
• Establish architecture governance standards, design patterns, and technical baselines for the team.
• Collaborate with CAL FIRE staff during Knowledge Transfer to document knowledge into architecture docs.
• Ensure all designs comply with NIST cybersecurity frameworks, CJIS Security Policy, and state standards.
• Provide technical oversight during Operations Support, reviewing changes and maintaining architectural integrity.
