Job summary

Peraton, California-based, is seeking a System/Network Administrator to support the CAL FIRE CAD network infrastructure. The role involves hands-on configuration, maintenance, and security of critical communications systems.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of network and systems administration, US citizenship, and CCNA-level expertise, with experience in public safety or critical infrastructure environments. On-call rotations and after-hours support may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field with 5 years’ experience.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on network and systems administration experience in government or critical infrastructure.
Must be a US citizen and eligible for government access.
CCNA certification required; CCNP/Security+ preferred.

Responsibilities

Administer, configure, and maintain CAL FIRE CAD network infrastructure components.
Execute changes with zero disruption to dispatch operations per change control.
Monitor performance, availability, and security using enterprise tools and respond to alerts.
Shadow CAL FIRE network staff during knowledge transfer and build runbooks.
Conduct network audits and validate architecture docs against configurations.
Perform system administration tasks for servers and supporting infrastructure.
Implement and maintain network security controls, ACLs, VPNs, IDS/IPS.
Resolve incidents and document in ITSM system, support DR tests.
