Job summary

Public Safety Dispatcher / Telecommunicator in Point Pleasant is seeking candidates to handle call-taking, police and fire dispatch, EMS as assigned. This role blends technology with decisive communication, requiring careful information management and adherence to agency procedures to keep callers and responders informed.

You'll work with CAD, telephone, mapping and radio systems, may include nights or weekends, and must pass background and training standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is commonly required.
• Applicants should demonstrate accurate typing, active listening, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Process emergency and nonemergency requests for public safety assistance
• Verify incident locations and gather essential caller information
• Classify and prioritize requests using approved procedures
• Operate computer-aided dispatch, telephone, mapping, and radio systems
• Coordinate response resources within assigned qualifications
• Monitor unit status and communicate significant incident updates
• Support interagency coordination and requests for additional assistance
• Maintain accurate records and follow information-security requirements
