Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Emergency communications, criminal justice, or related field training preferred.
  • Previous experience in customer service, call center, or dispatching desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in data entry and basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency Call-Taking: Answer calls, gather information and assess severity.
  • Dispatching: Send police, fire, or medical resources per protocols.
  • Radio Communication: Monitor and relay information between units.
  • Data Entry and Recordkeeping: Input call data into CAD accurately.
  • Resource Coordination: Work with other dispatchers and agencies.
  • Customer Service: Assist callers with calm, supportive guidance.
  • Adherence to Protocols: Follow confidentiality and security guidelines.
  • Continuous Training: Participate in ongoing training.
  • Shift Work: Work nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage.
