Job summary

The Village of Pleasant Prairie is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to provide critical dispatch services for Police, Fire, EMS, and Public Works. The role operates on an eight-hour rotating schedule with weekend and holiday availability required.

Level I requires high school diploma and dispatch experience or training such as APCO certificates; Level II adds additional SOP updates, training, and certification requirements. This is a full-time, hourly position in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or the equivalent required.
• Experience with police, fire, emergency, or related dispatch services preferred.
• Ability to obtain Wisconsin TIME System Certification.
• Ability to complete APCO International Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 Training Course.
• Possesses excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Active listener with outstanding communication skills to relay information quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work under stress and remain calm.

Responsibilities

• Answers non-emergency and emergency calls, prioritizes situations and dispatches appropriate units.
• Uses CAD, MDC, base station radios, and other equipment; records calls and messages.
• Operates TIME system for related agencies and maintains security of sensitive information.
• Maintains composure and communicates clearly with callers under rapidly changing circumstances.
• Relays information to emergency sites and relevant agencies promptly.
• Receives high-volume calls and oversees after-hours dispatch for Village departments.
• Promotes a positive work culture, teamwork, and community service.
