Job summary

Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Public Safety Telecommunicator to coordinate 911 communications, dispatch, and monitor public safety personnel while providing critical information to callers. This role involves handling emergency and non-emergency calls, maintaining records, and supporting responders under pressure.

The position requires operating a Computer Aided Dispatch system, ARMER radio, and security systems, along with rigorous on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to obtain PsPortals Security and Single Sign-on certification within six months.
• Requires ability to obtain Telecommunicator CPR certification within six months.
• Requires ability to complete FEMA training within six months.
• Requires ability to complete ARMER Radio/Statusboard training within six months.
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains accurate electronic records and logs using a CAD system.
• Monitors ARMER radio talk groups and channels and updates units during incidents.
• Operates cameras, alarms, and security doors for safety.
• Operates mapping systems to assist responders and locate units.
• Uses community notification system to alert the public during emergencies.
• Responds to 911 calls and texts, prioritizes requests, and coordinates response with emergency services.
• Retrieves and queries data from law enforcement databases as needed.
