City of Freeport is seeking a Telecommunication Officer [Dispatcher] for the Freeport Police Department. The role handles 911 and non-emergency police calls, prioritizes responses, and maintains close contact with field units. A 12-hour rotating shift is required.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and completion of the Basic Telecommunication Course within 6 months. Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must complete Basic Telecommunication Course within 6 months of employment.

Responsabilités

• Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone and radio systems and CAD.
• Prioritize calls and dispatch required units or agencies.
• Monitor police unit activity and assignments and coordinate with field units.
• Maintain logs of public safety communications activity.
• Access and enter data in local/state/national databases as needed for investigations.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of information.
