The City of Covina is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to receive and process routine and emergency calls, dispatch units, provide pre-arrival instructions, and use law enforcement information systems. The role offers entry-level development toward journey-level expertise under supervision.

Candidates should have strong public contact skills, be able to work flexible hours, and obtain a POST Dispatch Certificate within one year. Typing speed and familiarity with CAD/CLETS are beneficial.

Qualifications

• Two years of work experience involving public contact and record keeping, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain a Dispatch Certificate from POST within one year of appointment.
• Ability to type at least 45 words per minute is highly desirable.

Responsabilités

• Receive and process routine and emergency calls and alarms; dispatches public safety and public works field units as required.
• Provide pre-arrival instructions and access information from law enforcement data systems.
• Interprets service needs and coordinates multi-agency responses when necessary.
• Maintain records of calls and dispatched units and communicate with other agencies by phone and teletype.
