Job summary

University of Central Arkansas seeks a Telecommunications Specialist for the University Police dispatch center. The role handles emergency and non-emergency radio communications and coordinates calls to support field officers.

Requirements include a high school diploma and US citizenship. Preferred: 1 year of public safety dispatch experience. This is an onsite, full-time position in Conway, AR with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• The formal education of a high school diploma is required.
• Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
• Must be able to obtain Arkansas Crime Information Center ( ACIC ) terminal certification at levels required by the Department.
• Must be able to meet minimum training standards established by the Police Department.
• Must be able to pass both a personal and criminal history background investigation.
• Must not have been convicted of a felony crime or disqualifying misdemeanor crime.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes radio communications to dispatch officers and respond to radio calls.
• Answers inquiries at service windows and directs the public to appropriate staff.
• Provides information regarding University operations, traffic, and events.
• Alerts officers to status of subjects and issues warrants via ACIC/NCIC terminals.
• Maintains logs and records and prepares incident reports.
• Coordinates resources for housing and physical plant problems and disaster preparedness.
