Job summary

The City of Detroit's General Services Department – Detroit Animal Care & Control Division seeks a professional to enforce animal care and control laws, respond to incidents, and provide humane animal care and related public services. The officer will prepare documentation, testify when required, and educate the public on licensing, vaccinations, and adoptions.

Required is a High School diploma or GED, at least one year of animal care experience, and certifications or willingness to obtain them

Qualifications

• High School graduation or G.E.D. required.
• One year of experience caring for animals.
• Ability to operate department software and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

• Enforce local animal care and control laws and issue citations.
• Respond to calls, capture and care for animals, assess status.
• Prepare records and reports, gather evidence for court.
• Provide public information on licensing, vaccinations, and adoptions.
• Assist with front desk duties and euthanasia as needed.
