The City of Alvin is seeking a Humane Officer responsible for enforcing animal control laws and providing care to sheltered animals. This role includes responding to emergencies related to animals and educating the public on related ordinances.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for additional experience in animal control. A basic certification in animal control is required and may be obtained post-employment.
A Humane Officer (also referred to as an Animal Control Officer) is under the general supervision of the Shelter Manager who operates the City’s animal shelter and is responsible for the enforcement of animal control and cruelty laws and regulations. Employees in this class provide care to sheltered animals, capture nuisance animals, educate the general public on ordinances in relation to domestic pets, and respond to calls for services and emergencies twenty‑four (24) hours a day. Performs related work as required.
Starting Salary: $17.13
